Why does my pet need a collar tag if it has a microchip?

The collar tag serves as visual identification, we recommend attaching it to your pet's collar that way if your pet is ever lost the finder will know that your pet is microchipped and they can contact us to assist with reunification efforts.

If your pet's microchip number is not listed on the collar tag, the finder can have your pet scanned by an animal professional (vet, animal control, rescue/shelter) to retrieve the microchip number and contact the database where the microchip is registered for assistance contacting the owner.
