Why was ownership changed if I did not authorize it?
In order to change ownership we require adequate documentation in the new owner’s name and we reserve the right to refuse anything that we do not think meets our criteria.
Our transfer paperwork also includes a disclaimer that in the unlikely event that the previous owner contests the transfer, we will place the transfer request on hold until it can be reviewed.
Furthermore, if the pet is listed as lost in our database, the lost pet report will need to first be resolved with the current registered owner before the transfer request can be considered; this is the only scenario which would require us to contact the former owner in advance for their permission.
Our standard practice is, once the transfer is completed the former owner on record is notified via email –
