How do I request a transfer of ownership?
If your newly adopted pet is already registered with PetLink you will be required to submit a transfer request along with proof of ownership and a onetime fee of $29.99.
We accept the following as proof of ownership - please note that any and all documentation must be in your name (we will not accept documents in the previous owners name or anything handwritten from the previous owner unless it has been notarized):
- An adoption agreement or bill of sale
- A current pet license from your city
- A current rabies certificate
- Vet records or bills dated within the last 12 months
We do not accept AKC or CFA registrations, medical records or patient charts, reminder reports, emotional support or service animal certificates, receipts for licenses, grooming or boarding, rabies or license collar tags or adoption applications as proof of ownership.
If you are unable to provide documentation in your name and you have contact with the registered owner on file they can log into their PetLink account and request to transfer ownership to you
