PetLink and AAHA
AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) is the organization that accredits companion animal veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. They operate a microchip lookup tool used by vets across the country to identify pets and locate the correct registry.
PetLink is part of the AAHA lookup network — when a vet searches a chip number through AAHA, PetLink's database is included in that search.
You can access the AAHA microchip lookup tool at https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/
My chip does not start with 981 — can PetLink help?
Start by entering your microchip number in the Microchip Lookup tool at the top of https://www.petlink.net/ — if it is registered with us, it will appear.
If nothing comes back, use the AAHA lookup tool at https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/ — it searches across multiple registries and will identify which database your chip is registered with.
If anything is unclear, ask here and I'll help you through it.
