My pet is already registered but not by me — how do I access the account? | My pet's microchip is registered but I didn't create the account

This is common — vets, shelters, and rescues often register a pet's microchip on the owner's behalf. Here is how to access that account in three steps.

Step 1 — Confirm your pet's chip is registered

Enter your pet's microchip number in the Microchip Lookup tool at the top of https://www.petlink.net/ — if your pet's details appear, the account exists and you can proceed.

Step 2 — Find the email address on the account

Use the Forgot Username tool at https://www.petlink.net/account/forgot-username/ — enter your pet's microchip number and we will send the username to the email address on file via SMS.

Step 3 — Log in

Go to https://www.petlink.net/account/member-login/ and log in with that email address. If you do not know the password, reset it using the Forgot Password tool at https://www.petlink.net/account/forgot-password/

If anything is unclear, ask here and I'll help you through it.
