Here is what to do right away:
- Check for a microchip. Take the pet to the nearest vet clinic, shelter, or animal control facility — they can scan for a microchip at no charge.
- Look up the microchip number. Enter it in the Microchip Lookup tool at the top of petlink.net — if the pet is registered with PetLink, you will be prompted to fill out a Found Pet Report and our team will contact the owner.
- Check for a collar tag. If the pet has a tag with a phone number, contact the owner directly.
- If no microchip or tag is found. Contact your local animal shelter or animal control — they can hold the pet safely while the owner is located.
If anything is unclear, ask here and I'll help you through it. If you would prefer to speak with someone directly, you can reach PetLink at 1-877-PETLINK (738-5465).
