I transferred my cat over to my information and it asked for documentation it’s my cat. What happens if my cat is no longer named what its microchip has down

If your cat’s name on the microchip is different from its current name, don’t worry—this won’t affect the ownership transfer process. What’s important is that the proof of ownership lists your name as the owner and includes your cat’s identifying details. The pet’s current name doesn’t need to match the name on the microchip.

Here are examples of accepted proof of ownership:

- An adoption agreement from a rescue or shelter

- A current pet license from your city or town

- A current pet rabies certificate

- Vet bills dated within the last 12 months

Just make sure the owner name on the documentation matches the name on the account. If you have any questions or need further help, please don’t hesitate to reach out; petlink@petlink.net.
