How can PetLink help if my pet is lost?

If your pet is lost, PetLink is here to help with several supportive steps:

1. Microchip Identification: Your pet’s microchip serves as a permanent ID. If your pet is found and scanned, the unique microchip number will link back to your registration in the PetLink database, identifying you as the owner.

2. Finder Assistance: If your pet is wearing a PetLink collar tag, the finder can contact you directly. If not, they can use the AAHA website to locate the database where the microchip is registered.

3. Reunification Support: Once PetLink is informed that your pet has been found, we’ll file a found pet report and reach out to you via email, text, and phone to assist in reuniting you with your pet.

4. Lost Pet Report: You can log in to your PetLink account to file a Lost Pet Report. This allows you to feature your pet in the online Lost Pet Gallery, share the report on social media, and create printable Lost Pet posters to distribute locally.

5. Recovery Efforts: Enlist the help of family, friends, and neighbors to search your area, distribute posters, and contact local animal shelters, veterinarians, and animal control facilities.

6. 24/7 Support: Our dedicated support team is available around the clock, every day of the year, at 877-738-5465 (select option 2, then option 2) to assist with lost and found pets.

For more resources or to file a report, log in to your PetLink account here. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
